Read the Orders and Items views
The Sales report presents the same underlying data two ways. Picking the right one saves a lot of squinting.
Orders and Items answer different questions
Section titled “Orders and Items answer different questions”Orders
Section titled “Orders”One row per transaction. Use Orders when the question is about guests and visits — how many tabs you ran, what an average check looks like, how a Friday compares with a Tuesday.
One row per beverage sold. Use Items when the question is about products — which beer is moving, which style earns its tap line, what to reorder.
The distinction bites when you try to answer a product question with Orders. A busy night with fifty orders tells you nothing about which of your twelve taps deserves to stay, and that is the question most tap decisions actually turn on.
Date range
Section titled “Date range”Choose a preset range or Custom Range for a specific window.
Ranges are worth thinking about rather than accepting. A seven-day window flatters whichever days you happened to include; comparing like periods — this month against last, this Saturday against previous Saturdays — is what turns a number into a decision.
Reports are per location
Section titled “Reports are per location”Sales follow the active location. A report that looks unexpectedly quiet is often the right report for the wrong room — see Manage locations and the active location.
Where the data comes from
Section titled “Where the data comes from”Everything here originates in your POS and arrives automatically. BevWerk does not record sales itself; it reads what Clover or Square recorded. That is why a missing sale is an integration question rather than a reporting one — see Sales or reports are missing data.
It also explains attribution gaps: a beverage rung up under a POS item that does not match anything in BevWerk shows in your POS totals but cannot be attributed to a product here.
The dashboard is the same data, summarized
Section titled “The dashboard is the same data, summarized”Total Sales, Popular Products, and Popular Styles all draw on this data. Use the dashboard for the daily glance and this report when you need to interrogate a specific period — see Customize your dashboard widgets.
