Define Glassware and Menu Categories

Two small settings shape how a menu reads and how accurate your numbers are: Glassware decides how beer is sold, and Menu Categories decide how it is grouped.

A piece of Glassware carries a Name and a Price. Together these are what a guest actually chooses between — a pint, a half pour, a taster — and what the menu prints.

A keg never yields its full theoretical volume. Foam, line pulls, and the last inch that will not pour all disappear between what you bought and what you sold, which is why a keg can look short at the end of the month even when nothing went wrong.

BevWerk accounts for this when it works out yield per pour size. There is currently no field for you to set that allowance yourself — it is applied for you rather than configured.

A Category Name and Description group beverages on a menu. Categories are how a guest scanning a list finds the thing they want without reading all of it — by style, by strength, by whatever grouping suits your room.

Because categories live in settings rather than on each menu, the same grouping applies wherever a beverage appears, and Digital Menus can rotate through them when there is more to show than fits at once.
