Choose the right menu surface

BevWerk publishes to four menu surfaces, and they are not four copies of the same thing. Each one answers a different question about where a guest is standing when they read it.

/menus/bar — the working view for behind the bar. This is the one your staff reads, so it is organized for the person pouring rather than the person choosing.

/menus/digital — the screen a guest looks up at. Digital menus can rotate through categories and taplists, which matters when you pour more beers than fit legibly on one screen.

/menus/paper — the printable version, generated from the same taplist rather than retyped. Paper is the surface most likely to go stale, so producing it from live data is the whole point.

/menus/website — what appears on your public site. This one leaves your building entirely, which makes it the surface where an out-of-date beer is most visible and least forgivable.

Every surface draws on the same beverages, Taps & Taplists, and Menu Categories. Change a beer once and the change reaches all four, because the alternative — maintaining four lists by hand — is how a taproom ends up serving something the website says is gone.

This is also why the surfaces are separate pages rather than one page with a format switch. A rotation setting that makes sense on a screen is meaningless on paper, and a layout tuned for staff is wrong for guests.

Most operators end up using more than one. They are not alternatives so much as audiences.
