Understand POS sync operations
Once Clover or Square is connected, data moves between BevWerk and your POS. Most of it moves on its own. The manual controls that exist move different data in different directions, and running the wrong one is the usual reason a sync “did not work.”
Sales come to you, automatically
Section titled “Sales come to you, automatically”Order sync pulls completed sales from your POS into BevWerk. This is what fills Total Sales, Popular Products, Popular Styles, and the depletion behind Keg Movement.
Ordinary sales flow in on their own — you do not need to press anything for yesterday’s pints to appear. The manual sync exists for the exceptions: backfilling after an outage, or checking a suspicion that something did not come through.
Taps go the other way
Section titled “Taps go the other way”Tap sync pushes what you have on tap in BevWerk out to your POS, so the items your staff ring up match the beers you are actually pouring.
This direction surprises people. BevWerk is the source of truth for what is pouring, because that is where you manage kegs and taplists. The POS is the source of truth for what sold. Each system pushes what it knows and pulls what it does not.
Which manual controls you actually have
Section titled “Which manual controls you actually have”For a Square location, two manual actions are available: Sync Square Taps and Sync Square Orders.
For a Clover location there are no manual sync buttons. Clover data flows automatically, and the only integration action on the location is removing the connection. If you are looking for a Clover sync button because something seems stale, the answer is not a button you have missed — see the checklist below.
Packaged inventory is treated as its own concern rather than folded into tap sync, because packaged stock does not live on a tap, does not empty a keg, and does not follow the draft lifecycle.
When a sync looks like it did nothing
Section titled “When a sync looks like it did nothing”Work through these in order:
- Check the active location. Syncs are per location. A sync run against the wrong room does exactly what you asked and nothing you wanted.
- Check direction. If your POS is missing beers, you want a tap push, not an order pull.
- Give sales a moment. Order data arrives on its own; a sale from a few minutes ago may simply not have landed yet.
- Confirm the integration is still connected. POS tokens expire, and a lapsed connection fails quietly from the outside.
