A menu is not showing what I expect
Menus are generated from several layers of setup, so “the menu is wrong” almost always means one specific layer is not what you think it is. Work down this list in order.
The menu is completely empty
Section titled “The menu is completely empty”You will see “There are no active Taplists set up for this location” with a Create Taplist button.
This means the location has no active taplist, not that the menu is broken. A menu displays a taplist; with no taplist there is nothing to display. See Set up Taps & Taplists.
A beer is missing from the menu
Section titled “A beer is missing from the menu”Check these in order, because each one depends on the one before it:
- Is it on a tap? A beverage that exists in inventory but is not assigned to a tap will not appear. Check
Run the On Tap workspace. - Is that tap on this taplist? A tap can exist without belonging to the taplist this menu points at.
- Is the taplist active? Inactive taplists are skipped.
- Is the field switched on? The menu design toolbar can hide producers, styles, prices, and other details per surface. A “missing” beer is sometimes a beer showing with fewer fields than you expected.
The wrong location’s beers are showing
Section titled “The wrong location’s beers are showing”Menus follow the active location. If the list looks like another room’s, switch the active location and look again — see Manage locations and the active location.
A screen in the taproom shows old information
Section titled “A screen in the taproom shows old information”The display is a browser pointed at a menu address, so the usual causes are ordinary browser causes:
- The page has been open a long time and needs a reload.
- The device went to sleep and is showing a stale frame.
- The screen is pointed at a different taplist than the one you edited.
The website shows something different from the taproom screen
Section titled “The website shows something different from the taproom screen”That is expected if they point at different taplists, and it is the most common reason the two disagree. Confirm both are showing the taplist you think they are before assuming a sync problem — the four surfaces are independent by design, as described in Choose the right menu surface.
Sales look wrong rather than the menu
Section titled “Sales look wrong rather than the menu”That is a different problem with a different cause — see Understand POS sync operations.
What to do next
